凯旋 is a basketball club that originated around the red hill area back in the 1980s and was later continued by Mr. Edmund Tan, who became the 凯旋 coach since 1990s.
The culture of 凯旋 was molded and deeply influenced by the work of Mr. Edmund Tan, who always believe that discipline is the guided principle of the team. 凯旋 was thus positioned differently from the other major clubs in the basketball scene with a different mission and purpose. 凯旋 – which means “to return in triumph” in Chinese, transports the ancient war fighting spirit to modern times.
It was in 2000 that Coach Marc joined the 凯旋 family and the 凯旋 boys back then were made up of players from Naval Base Secondary School and a mixture of players from the west.
Honoring the 凯旋 culture, the club was further developed under Coach Marc drawing strong influences from Coach Lok Chi and Coach Lowtong, both respectable coaches in the basketball scene. 凯旋 was known for its discipline and teamwork under Coach Marc‘s care. The initial training ground for 凯旋 boys and girls was at CCAB outdoors, but the training moved to a public court in the west in 2005. It was in the same year that 凯旋 boys and girls started to run separately as a club.
凯旋 boys discontinued after the year 2010 but the 凯旋 culture was brought alive again in a school team setting in Fairfield Methodist School as it becomes the core for the new generation of 凯旋.
After the revival in 2015, 凯旋 made back to back final appearances in the Milo Youth Cup in 2016 and 2017 and clinched the u17 title in 2017. 凯旋 then went on to win second runner up in Men’s qualifying in the same year and advanced to NBL Division 1 with a squad of young players.
Other than basketball accolades, 凯旋 also made an impact in the special needs community and actively influencing youths positively through social media. 凯旋 and Rigorer Singapore started their collaboration in 2019 and the rest is history.
